Soundtrack.

Soundtrack (:

The first song I chose for my book is Concrete Angel by Martina McBride. This song
represents Alice ( the protagonist). This song talks about how a little girl gets abused by
her mom and it gets so bad that eventually she dies. This relates to my book in so many ways. Alice gets abused by this guy Ray and she never tells anyone. I'm pretty sure some people in the book knew what was going on but didn't wanna do anything about it. That's the same situation in the music video. The girls teacher sees her bruises but completely disregards it like she saw nothing.

The song I chose for my climax is called Butterfly Fly Away by Miley Cyrus. The climax of my book falls at the end. Alice claims she's free from Ray, depending on how you read it, there are different ideas of free. The song talks about how Miley's dad was always there for her and made everything okay but it's time for her to go and be on her own. This relates to the climax because in the song it says "You tucked me in, turned out the light.
Kept me safe and sound at night. Little girls depend on things like that" and that's what Ray thought he was doing for her but it was in fact the complete opposite. At the end it says "We've been waiting for this day All along and knowing just what to do. Butterfly, butterfly, butterfly, butterfly fly away." Alice was hoping her day of freedom would come whether it meant death or not. It was her time to be free from him and this song does a great job expressing that.

For my theme I chose how she got taken from her family. I chose the song Rain by Breaking Benjamin. It tells the story about how a girl got taken from her family (or something close to that). The lyrics say " take a photograph, it'll be the last" and that makes me think about when she first got kidnapped. It also says "To lie here under you,
Is all that I could ever do. To lie here under you is all, To lie here under you is all that i could ever do" which makes me think of all the things he did to her and she could do nothing about it.

The next song I chose is the instrumental. It's called Sad Story composed by Tillman Sillescu. It's a beautiful piece. It makes me think "what if this book was made into a movie?" When I imagine what it would be like, I play the music in my head and envision her sitting somewhere having flashbacks of when she was at home with her family. It brings a nostalgic/longing kind of feel to the book.

With the last song, I wanted to show Ray's point of view. I chose the song Closer by Nine Inch Nails. It's a really explicit, disturbing song which is why it was perfect for what I'm trying to get across. It also can show how weak and how hopeless Alice was. The lyrics say "you let me......." Which is exactly what Alice did. She never fought back. This song also has a bubbly kind of sadistic, happy tone to it which is so twisted. It fits perfectly with Ray because he thinks what he's doing is okay and he has no remorse for what he's done and is doing.

Math of Sports and Games

well we been in this class for 7.5 LOOOOOOOOOOOONG weeks.. uhhhhh. Anywho, I have mixed feelings about this class. I like it when I actually know how to do the stuff we're doing.. but most of the time, I wanna punch things because this class aggravates me. I like the fact that the class has a lot to do with sports but games.... not so much. I guess i see where math can be useful but when I get outta high school, I'm not doing anything related to any of this so it's not useful for my life. I will say that I enjoy this math class more than others I've taken. The other classes were textbook, textbook, textbook.. nothing interesting. This class, we do different activities and actually learn about stuff a lot of people like (sports). The only other thing I don't like about this class is that unless it's one on one teaching, I don't learn squat. And I'm sure it's safe to say that that also applies to other people in the class as well. This material is harder to understand because it's not regular math so maybe try teaching in a way we can understand better and not just teach it for a few minutes then give us a sheet then a project then a test.... not coooool.

WRAP - Solar Energy

Hi Sun IALs,
Thank you to Sofia and Maricela for arranging our visit with Sigora Solar's Allen McCown and Shawn Cooke.  They discussed several revealing issues related to energy production and solar energy in particular.  Please use the Department of Energy web site, and two other web resources to research and help you answer the following questions.  List your three (or more) resources at the top of your blog and be prepared to discuss in class Number 7.  Thanks again Sofia and Maricela!

1.  Why does Germany, a country in Europe the size of Montana which has fewer solar energy production days than most parts of the US, produce more energy by solar than the US?  What did they do to make this possible?  Did the government help out through incentives or grants?
Maybe there's more people there?

2.  Based on your personal energy consumption, where could you save some money?
Probably electricity.. I always leave my stuff on.

3.  Does solar energy make sense for your home?  Why or why not?
I dunno.. It might save momma some money.

4.  Would you be more likely to purchase a home that had solar energy installed?  Why or why not? Yeah, you could save money in the long run.

5.  What is the likely path that the United States will take with respect to solar energy production?
I hope they pursue it. I think it's a great idea.

6.  What would have to happen before you would make an investment in solar energy for your energy consumption? Look at the cost and stuff.

7.  Brainstorm:  Describe a technology or new idea that could make use of or improve what is currently happening with solar energy.  Solar energy powered cars ?

Response to Fernanda's article

http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/26/health/alcohol-enemas/index.html?hpt=he_t5

1. I love tattoos and piercings
2. But there should definitely be an age limit.

Yes, I have tattoos and piercings, all approved by my momma. But I didn't get to do any of that until I was 15. And even then
My mom was hesitant. Kids these days have tattoos that don't mean anything to them and they have like 3273949493030 piercings.
That is not okay. Somebody has to draw the line somehow. I mean I was 15 when I got my lip pierced. I had asked my mom for years and then she finally let me.
It wasn't until I was 16 that I got my first tattoo. I hate when people down others for their piercings or tattoos yes tattoos are permanent but you can get them removed.. Though it is really expensive. And piercings.. Well you can take them out and they'll close up.

Article Response

10 smartphone habits you should avoid. Andrea Bartz.

QUOTE:

1. Drunk -tweeting, -texting, -Instagramming, etc.
Long gone are the days when the only witnesses to your inebriated ramblings were other bar patrons who also saw you stumble from your bar stool to the ground. Whether you're able to keep it together with spelling and syntax (in which case, you've just got the world going, "Wait, she wants to do WHAT to Paul Ryan?!"), or your typing skills erode quickly, alcohol and mobile devices don't mix.

RESPONSE: I agree completely. I absolutely hate when people call me or text me and they're drunk or something. That sound ignorant and the texts are just annoying. And people that take pictures of them drunk are stupid.. Like they don't look cool if that's what they think. I have friends like get completely trashed and they'll call me and ask me to pick them up or something because they're sick. Um, no thank you. You chose to do it and I'm not taking the fall for it. Sometimes if they text me, and their words are all messed up, I don't believe they're actually drunk because anyone can pretend over text, like its not that hard. Plus when you mix alcohol, texting, and driving, that's just a disaster waiting to happen.

Class discussion - modern lit

Yesterday we had a really good conversation about all the creepy people in this world. It really makes me wonder if people are really born that way or if they were made to be that way.. We talked about this man in Austria that had kept his daughter in the basement for over 10 years. The wife/mother said that she had no idea but I think she's full of crap. If your child went missing all of a sudden, why wouldn't you call the police? Anywho, the guy raped his daughter multiple times and she had 7 children by him. Which is absolutely repulsive. We also looked in our area for registered sex offenders and honestly, it scares me to know that there are so many in our area. People are sick.. I just don't know why. We also talked about this man and woman that filmed kids that they wanted to take. They ended up taking this girl and keeping her in a tent in the backyard. She also had two kids by the man. The man was already on probation or parole (not sure what the difference is...?) for sexual stuff. Every time the officer would come over to search his house, for some reason, they'd never check the back. Which I really hope they got fired for that because that's their job and they could've saved her. I like topics like this because they're really interesting. I also like it because everyone has different opinions and its cool to see what everyone else thinks.

Pilot classes..

I enjoy these classes for the most part, especially modern lit. It's definitely gotta be my favorite. πŸ‘❤πŸ“– Math is second , for the simple fact that it has to do with sports. I love sports.... 🏈⚽⚾πŸ€❤πŸ˜ƒ and science on the other hand... Im not a big fan. I'd rather do expiraments rather than write a million papers and talk to people.. Plus its like two degrees in there ALL the time. πŸ‘ŽπŸ˜£

It's not supposed to be this cold...

I am currently sitting in mr. Wion's class and I'm freezing. My leg hairs are growing back... This is not okay. My nose is cold.

We got thermometers and it started out at 20 degrees celsius and now it's 18 degrees... This is absurd.

What I Want To Read.

  1. Go Ask Alice; Anonymous
  2. Perfect; Ellen Hopkins
  3. You Against Me; Jenny Downham
  4. 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy; E L James
  5. Something Borrowed; Emily Griffin

Living Dead Girl. (book #1)

I am currently reading Living Dead Girl. I love this book. It definitely has been hard to put down because I'm constantly wondering what's going to happen next. It's got a lot of imagery which is a thumbs up for me! It definitely relates to the video Psychology of Evil because the guy in the book, Ray, is insane but I think he was made to be that way and he's passing it on to each 'Alice'. He physically, mentally, and sexually abuses the girls but starving them, making them get waxed, and raping them. He thinks it's because he loves them, which in my eyes, is so not the case. His mom did it to him so I think he thinks it's okay for him to do it to other people. His mother made him out to be this way because if she hadn't abused him, I think he'd be okay. On a brighter note, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who could handle the intensity.

WRAP

Things I'm passionate about:
  1. tattoos
  2. Dallas Cowboys
  3. food
I absolutely love tattoos. I think they're a great way to express yourself. Yes, they're expensive but I think it's my favorite hobby. I have 3 tattoos, all with meaning. I still have a lot more that I want. I think that its art and it's beautiful. I hate when people are judgmental about people with tattoos. Anywho, I like tattoos.. k bye.

Day One. [8.22.12)

well, yesterday was the first day of school. my first three classes are my pilot school classes. they've been boring so far because we don't have our iPads and all they could do was talk to us.. boring. the only class i really like so far is modern literature because I'm more interested in reading and talking rather than math and science.
